Our Little Wild Time
Has just begun
We interrupt this regularly scheduled silence for an important announcement. Our little wild time has just begun, and is available for preorder from Fantagraphics Underground.
Gary Groth first approached me about doing a collection of my work just after my son was born in 2014. I’d seen him around at shows for years and of course, being an indie comics fan as well as creator, I had cut my teeth on Los Bros. Hernandez, Eightball, etc.. It was a big deal, but I tried to keep my cool. That was a good thing since it took a full 12 years for this to land.
‘Our Little Wild Time’ collects work from my most frantically productive ca. 2002 to 2004 including jam comic from Hell ’Mantequilla del Pato’ with Trevor Alixopulos. This was the era of the Gocco, commercial suicide and imprudent beverages secreted under convention tables. In short; good times.
’Midnight Creep’, my visual take on Southern Gothic Blues follows. Before the second half of the book steps to the future and experimental comics like ’Mugology’ and transitional “Dusted”. There are period photos, sketches and a delightful interview with Gary Groth.

‘Our Little Wild Time’ isn’t nostalgia, it’s a document of a scene in transition, a bygone era and an artist becoming. That’s how it looks from this remove. I had to take hard looks at the work. Consolidating this was no small act (though this many years? How?) but I’m proud of every guilty giggle and double take. Preorder from Fantagraphics Underground. Street date: 4/21/26
