It’s showtime!
I teach comics in traditional media at CCA for their Masters program. One of the things I hammered relentlessly was my distaste for splash pages. They’re lazy, self-indulgent, and a waste of real estate! Then I looked at my script, the massive number of splash pages and at least a couple of two-page spreads, and changed my tune.
A little.
They’re OFTEN lazy, self-indulgent, and a waste of real estate, in the wrong hands. I, on the other hand, am a *professional*
Also, this splash page in particular was a blast. This isn’t the complete sequence and I believe this is the longest racing sequence in the book. It sets the table for what is to come and for what I imagine his inner monologue was. It needed to stretch out a bit.
